There’s more to Group Exercise than just a workout. At the YMCA of Central Florida, our classes are an opportunity to move your body, care for your health, meet new people, and find a routine that works for you. As part of our Fit Together campaign, we’re introducing you to the incredible Group Exercise instructors who help bring our classes and our community to life.
Meet Brooke, one of our Group Exercise instructors at the Y! From BODYPUMP and Core to Stretch and Indoor Cycle, Brooke brings a variety of ways to move, challenge yourself, and build confidence at the Y.
Whether you’re working on strength, endurance, flexibility, or simply finding a workout you enjoy, Brooke’s approach is simple: have fun, focus on yourself, and remember that everybody had a day one.
Starting something new can feel intimidating, especially when you walk into a Group Exercise class for the first time. You might wonder if you’ll be able to keep up. You might feel like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing. Or you might simply be unsure which class is right for you.
Your fitness journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Group Exercise is about showing up, finding movement that works for you, and giving yourself the opportunity to grow. And you don’t have to be at a certain fitness level to get started. There’s room for every age, experience level, and fitness journey at the Y.
What Does Brooke Teach?
BODYPUMP
BodyPump is a strength-focused Group Exercise class that uses weights and high repetitions to help build muscular strength and endurance. It’s a great option for anyone looking to challenge their muscles and build strength in a motivating group environment.
Core
Core-focused exercise helps strengthen the muscles that support your body through everyday movement and physical activity. Building core strength can support stability, balance, and functional movement.
Stretch
Stretch classes provide an opportunity to slow down, improve flexibility, and give your body intentional time to move and recover. Stretching can also support mobility and help you feel more comfortable in your everyday movement.
Indoor Cycle
Indoor Cycle offers an energizing cardiovascular workout using stationary bikes. Whether you’re looking to build endurance, challenge yourself, or simply enjoy moving to the rhythm of a group, Cycle is another way to make fitness fun.
Find Your Fit, Your Way
One of the best things about Group Exercise is that there’s no single way to do it.
You can challenge yourself with BODYPUMP, build your foundation with Core, slow things down with Stretch, or get your heart pumping in Indoor Cycle. You can try a class because a friend invited you, because the schedule works for you, or simply because you’ve always wanted to see what it’s like.
And if your first class isn’t your favorite, that’s okay. Keep exploring.
Finding the right class can take some trial and error, but that’s part of the journey. The goal isn’t to compare yourself to the person next to you. It’s to find movement that makes you feel good, supports your health, and gives you a reason to come back.
At the Y, you’ll also find instructors and fellow members who are there to encourage you along the way.
Because when we move together, we can support one another, celebrate progress, and make healthy habits a little more enjoyable.
Everybody has a day one. You just have to take the first step.
Fit Together at the Y
At the YMCA of Central Florida, Group Exercise is about more than completing a workout. It’s about creating opportunities to care for your spirit, mind, and body while connecting with the people around you.
Whether you’re brand new to fitness or looking for a new challenge, there’s a place for you in the room.
Have fun. Focus on yourself. And remember, everybody had a day one.
