Stay In-the-know

The safety of all is our first priority.

The YMCA of Central Florida is currently monitoring storms in the counties we serve, and we’ll provide updates on our facilities and programming based on weather conditions. Check this page for updates related to inclement weather when it comes to our facilities, pools, Youth Sports, and swim lessons. Please note: Youth Sports and swim lesson cancellations will be communicated via PlayerSpace.

Tropical Storm Nicole – Operational Updates

At the Y, the safety of our community is of utmost importance. Therefore, we have made the decision to close (with the exception of The Learning Center at Sherberth and The Learning Center at Lake Buena Vista*) at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 9 through Thursday, November 10. In addition, all programming and classes will be suspended during this time. We plan to reopen for normal operations on Friday, November 11 as weather and conditions allow.

We ask that you join us in keeping our community in your thoughts and prayers during this time as we continue to demonstrate our core values – Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.

As beacons of safety, support and connection, our Ys will be here to continue serving our members and communities before, during, and after the storm.

*All communication regarding operations at the Disney Learning Centers will be sent separately.

Inclement Weather Policy

Our association has trained YMCA team members and lifeguards based on data from the American Meteorological Society. Our policy dictates that we wait 30 minutes from the last time we hear thunder or see lightning to (re)open our pools.

Operation Updates

At the Y, the safety of our staff, our members and our community is of utmost importance. We expect conditions may vary from location to location and power outages may impede our ability to stay in touch. See the details below regarding any updates currently family center and program operations. Please be reassured that the Y will be here to support you, your loved ones and the community in whatever way we can in keeping with our core values – Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
