Jody Alexander, Chief Operating Officer

I grew up in the Y learning to swim, joining a swim team, and later, my first job was with the Y as a lifeguard. I have experienced first-hand the opportunities that this organization provides. From learning a new skill and sportsmanship to the connections formed with the diversity that is our community, the Y brings people together in a way that no other organization can. Every day, I work to make sure the same experiences and opportunities are available for everyone in our community.

After spending most of my career at for-profit brands, I started to wonder. Was there something more impactful I could do?
When I came across the Y, the mission statement struck me. I realized I had grown up with the Y, from playing soccer as a kid in the Downtown Y, to joining the Y basketball league as a young adult. I was a member of the Y throughout my adulthood, working out at several locations and volunteering. The Y was good; it was sincere, powerful, and it was community, my community. That’s when it clicked, and I realized my “why.” My calling is to invest my life in service to all in my community through the Y and to steward it so that the Y thrives now and for generations to come.
