Swim Lessons Designed for Every Ability

Adaptive Swim Lessons at the YMCA of Central Florida provide individualized instruction for swimmers ages 3 and up, led by certified adaptive swim instructors who have additional training in teaching individuals with diverse abilities.

Offered at the Oviedo YMCA, these inclusive swim lessons are designed to meet the unique needs and goals of every swimmer while promoting water safety, skill development, and confidence in a safe, welcoming space.

Every swimmer’s journey begins with understanding their unique needs.

Curriculum

Using the YMCA nationally recognized evidence-based swim lessons curriculum the Aquatics Director will build an Individual Swim Plan (ISP) to ensure that each participant reaches their goals.

Progress

Instruction is tailored to individual comfort levels, goals, and learning styles. Progression is based on readiness, not timelines.

At-Home Activities

Families will be provided with progress reports and at-home activities to ensure that water safety is a part of everyday conversation and activity.

“As a special needs parent it is really important for me that my boys are comfortable, and they build skills with someone who cares as much as I do. And without any judgement, the Y, Ms. Vicki has made it possible for my boys to succeed in their goals.”

From Payal Attaluri (mom of two boys with special needs)

“We are very happy with the services that we are provided with Ms. Vicki — we are extremely grateful for everything that she has done with Damian. It’s an amazing experience, he loves to go every week. We are also happy because he’s safe and he is also improving his skills every day.”
