Older Adult Group Exercise and Healt Classes

Class Descriptions

We have a wide variety of classes available to our active older adults looking to stay fit! From chair yoga to stretching and more, discover the class you’ve been waiting to join.

Each class may not be available at every family center. Please check your family center’s schedule to see what’s offered at your YMCA!


Active Older Adult
A kinder, gentler aerobic workout appropriate for older adults who would like to include a low-intensity, low-impact workout in their fitness plans. Each class includes anaerobic conditioning and stretching segments.

Active Older Adult Fit
A low-impact class that offers a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for daily living. A chair is available if needed for seated and standing support.

Forever Young Cardio Strength
Classes are designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. The workout combines aerobic, flexibility, and resistance (strength) training with plenty of friendly fun.

Forever Young Chair Yoga
This class is a gentle form of yoga. You will practice yoga sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and ways of relaxation with the aid of a chair.

Forever Young Stretch
It’s time for greater ease, comfort, and capability in daily life. If you’ve been feeling tight, stiff, stressed, or anxious then one of my classes might be just what you need! All classes include full body stretching and guided relaxation.

Forever Young Toning
Classes are designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. The workout combines aerobic, resistance (strength) training, and toning with plenty of friendly fun.

Senior Strength
A full-body workout for active older adults using light weights, resistance bands, and exercise balls.

Zumba Gold
Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination.
