Central Florida is growing quickly. Every week, more than 1,000 people move to our region from across the country and around the world, bringing new experiences, cultures, traditions, and stories to the communities we call home.
As our community grows, so does the opportunity to make sure every neighbor feels welcome, connected, and like they belong.
That’s what Welcoming Week is all about.
Created by Welcoming America, Welcoming Week is a national celebration that brings people together to build connections, promote cross-cultural understanding, celebrate what makes each of us unique, and create communities where everyone belongs.
This year, we’re celebrating with a simple message, “Every Neighbor Belongs”.
Where Every Neighbor Belongs
At the YMCA of Central Florida, we believe the strength of a community comes from the people who make it one. When we take the time to connect with our neighbors, learn from one another, and create welcoming spaces, we all become stronger together.
A Place to Find Connection
Moving to a new community can be exciting, but finding your place and building new connections takes time. Sometimes, belonging starts with something as simple as a friendly face, a shared class, a conversation with a neighbor, or a place where you feel comfortable being yourself.
That’s what makes the Y more than a place to work out.
Across our 15 YMCA of Central Florida locations, people come together every day to care for their spirit, mind, and body. You might meet a new friend in a Group Exercise class, connect with a neighbor at the Wellness Floor, bring your family to the pool, participate in a program, or simply walk through the doors and know you have a place to go.
There are many ways to experience the Y, but one thing remains the same: there’s a place for you here.

Central Florida is home to people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and communities. Each person brings experiences, traditions, and perspectives that help shape the place we call home.
Welcoming Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate those differences while recognizing the things that connect us.
