Why I Give to The Y: A Donor’s Story

A Message from Mike Manuel,

2015 Annual Scholarship Campaign Chair

This year, I am honored to serve the Y as the 2015 Annual Scholarship Campaign Chair. The Annual Campaign is so important to me because it impacts the lives of so many residents who call Central Florida home.

I give to the Y because I want all children to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe environment. Not only does the Y provide a safe haven for at-risk youth, but I have seen first-hand how the organization’s Healthy Living programs have completely transformed the lives of people recovering from cancer or other illnesses. The Y’s good work and commitment to Social Responsibility would not be possible without caring individuals like you. Through your generosity, the Y was able to provide $5.86 million in financial assistance to 90,872 people just last year.

Now that summer swim season is upon us, Rowdy Gaines, our VP of Aquatics, is out promoting the Y’s leadership in water safety.  His powerful message – not one more child drowns – is really resonating.  In just a few short weeks, we have seen a significantly increased demand for swim-lesson scholarships. And we need your help to save these young lives!

My personal goal as a Y volunteer, donor and as the 2015 Annual Campaign Scholarship chair is to help make life-changing necessities like Y-quality swim lessons, youth programs and healthy living resources available to ALL residents of the Central Florida community.

Please support the 2015 Annual Scholarship Campaign. Your gift will have an immediate impact upon the lives of so many families in need.
