Pool Resurfacing at Oviedo YMCA

At the Oviedo YMCA, we've been proud to serve the community with a variety of programs, services, and amenities throughout the years. Because we want to ensure our members enjoy their experience at the Y, we're always looking for ways to improve on these offerings. One major amenity, our indoor pool, has gotten a lot of use over the last few decades—and now it's time for some renovations! We're excited to announce all of the pool surfaces will be replaced including the deck, floor, walls, and even the lap line tiles. We'll also be removing the temporary stairs by the women’s locker room and installing permanent stairs.

The pool will close on November 15 and our plan is to reopen at the beginning of January 2022. In the meantime, we invite you to take advantage of our aquatic group exercise classes as well as recreational and lap swim availability. During the roughly six weeks the pool is closed, we'll continue to offer SilverSneaker classes and a variety of group exercise classes for all ages and abilities. There's plenty of equipment on our wellness floor and an elevator to help you get there, too. If you're looking for more of a customized plan to help you target the same muscles you did in the water, check out our Personal Training program. With in-person and virtual options plus individual or small group plans, you can create a regimen that works best for you.

We're looking forward to sharing updates and progress pictures, so we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and check our News & Blog section on our website! You can even add your name to our list; we'll be contacting members to let them know when the pool has officially reopened.

Please review our FAQs, and contact the Oviedo YMCA team if you have any additional questions regarding this update.

Where can I go if I want to use a pool?
If you have a Community Impact membership, you're able to access all YMCA of Central Florida locations and amenities! Here is a list of the closest locations to Oviedo YMCA that will continue to offer aquatic group exercise classes, recreational and lap swim, and swim lessons:

Our last session of swim lessons will end before November 15 and we will resume the next session of swim lessons in January of 2022. Please keep in mind that most of our Y locations take a break from providing lessons over the holidays, and will also resume in the new year.

Will I need to make reservations for aquatic group exercise classes at other centers?
Yes, you'll use the same app you currently have to make reservations at the Oviedo Y. For classes at a different family center, simply change the location on the app's homepage. If you have trouble making reservations, you can always ask the Y team for help at the front desk or contact Member Services.

Will there be any dry-land classes at the Oviedo YMCA that I can still take?
Yes, a dry-land class will be taught in the upstairs group exercise studio during the time the pool is closed. There will be chairs to help those that need additional assistance.
