Golden Triangle Park Breaks Ground

Lake County, FL – Lake County, the City of Tavares and the YMCA of Central Florida proudly hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Golden Triangle Regional Park – East Campus. This innovative project represents a collaborative effort to enhance recreational opportunities and community well-being in the Golden Triangle area encompassing Tavares, Mount Dora and Eustis.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. and marked the official start of construction on this transformative initiative. Local officials, community leaders and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the milestone and reaffirm their dedication to improving the quality of life for residents throughout the Golden Triangle area.

"Lake County is thrilled to embark on this collaborative journey with the City of Tavares and the YMCA of Central Florida," said Commissioner Kirby Smith, Chairman of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. "The Golden Triangle Regional Park represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to create vibrant inclusive spaces where residents can thrive and connect with nature."

The vision for the Golden Triangle Regional Park – East Campus emerged from a shared commitment to provide comprehensive recreational facilities for residents across Lake County and the City of Tavares. Through extensive discussions and planning sessions that began in 2021, the Tavares City Council, Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the YMCA of Central Florida Board of Directors laid the foundation for this transformative endeavor.

The Golden Triangle Regional Park, situated at the Golden Triangle YMCA property, will serve as a hub for diverse recreational activities including expanded offerings for seniors and youth programs. This initiative aligns with Lake County's Parks and Trails Master Plan, reflecting a strategic investment in the community’s health and well-being.
