YMCA's Y on the Fly mobile P.E. program in Orlando

YMCA Mobile P.E. Van Brings Fitness to Communities

This summer, the YMCA of Central Florida’s Y on the Fly program took the Y beyond its walls, bringing opportunities for play, learning, healthy food, and meaningful connection directly to children in communities across Central Florida.

Over 10 weeks of summer programming, Y on the Fly served 1,281 youth at 28 community stops, traveling 1,202 miles across Central Florida to reach children where they live, learn, and play.

Meeting Communities Where They Are

Y on the Fly is the YMCA of Central Florida’s mobile outreach program designed to expand access to Y experiences and resources beyond traditional YMCA locations.

Throughout summer 2026, the Y on the Fly team traveled to community locations across the region, bringing games, activities, resources, and nutritious snacks directly to youth.

Each day on the road represented an opportunity to create a welcoming environment where children could be active, have fun, build relationships, and experience the sense of belonging at the heart of the Y.

Supporting Healthy Kids Beyond the Walls of the Y

In addition to activities and opportunities for play, Y on the Fly distributed approximately 875 pounds of healthy food and beverages throughout the summer, including fresh fruit, bottled water, juice, and nutritious snacks.

Remaining supplies were also shared with YMCA summer camp sites, community centers, and daycare partners, helping ensure available food and beverages continued benefiting children and families in the community.

Y on the Fly Summer 2026 Impact

In 10 weeks, Y on the Fly:

  • Served 1,281 youth
  • Made 28 community stops across Central Florida
  • Traveled 1,202 miles
  • Distributed approximately 875 pounds of healthy food and beverages

These numbers represent more than miles and stops. They represent opportunities to meet children and families where they are and connect them with experiences that support healthy development, relationships, and belonging.

This impact was made possible in part through the generous support of our partners: Florida Blue Foundation, The Ginsberg Institute at Nemours Children’s Health, and Mullinax Ford. We are grateful for their partnership in helping Y on the Fly bring opportunities for healthy development, connection, and belonging directly to youth across Central Florida.

As the YMCA of Central Florida continues to expand its impact beyond the walls of its family centers, Y on the Fly provides another way for the YMCA to strengthen communities by making programs and resources more accessible to youth throughout Central Florida.
