The YMCA of Central Florida Sends Invitation to Entire Central Florida Community to RESTART Your Health and Wellness Routine for 2021

ORLANDO, Fla. – (January 30, 2021)

The YMCA of Central Florida is launching the Better Us Challenge, a free health and wellness challenge that is open and available for the entire Central Florida community. The Better Us Challenge will run three times a year, and each challenge will have a different theme. The first challenge of 2021 will begin on February 1, and is called "RESTART." This challenge will focus on personal well-being, and giving participants the chance to restart or revamp their RENEW year resolutions.

Our communities are still struggling economically, and as our neighbors look for ways to stave off social isolation and maintain a healthier lifestyle, the Y is continuing to seek opportunities to help meet these needs as part of its nonprofit mission. Leveraging virtual, in-facility and outdoor, and at-home programs in combination with social media, the program is designed to be accessible by all. Program examples include outdoor group exercise classes, Facebook Live group exercise classes, special offerings at YMCA family centers, and more that participants can do at home and in their neighborhoods.

RESTART will span four weeks and the challenge promotes at least 20 minutes of movement per day, five days a week. Each week will focus on a specific concept to strengthen one or multiple components of the spirit-mind-body connection. Participants are encouraged to join the YMCA of Central Florida Better Us Challenge Facebook group to share their experiences with other participants, download an Activity Tracker to note their progress, and will also receive weekly email reminders for motivation.

We also recommend that current non-Y members take advantage of a new offering called Neighborhood Membership. Neighborhood Membership is an exciting new initiative on behalf of the YMCA of Central Florida to include all 3.5 million Central Floridians as a part of our Y family. Neighborhood members will receive YMCA news, updates, and free programs—like the Better Us Challenge—in their inbox at no cost!
