The YMCA of Central Florida Announces New Metropolitan Board Members

The YMCA of Central Florida recently elected Chris D'Orso and Hal Morlan III to the Metropolitan Board of Directors. Marcia Hope Goodwin was also elected to serve another 1-year term.

The Metropolitan Board provides leadership and support to ensure all families, adults and children have equal opportunities for success at YMCAs across the association. The board also helps uphold the organization's mission and strategic plan, ensuring guest experiences and facilities reflect those values.

Elected Board Members

  • Chris D'Orso serves as executive vice president of sales and operations for the Orlando Magic, entering his 35th season with the team. He holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Fairfield University. In addition to his involvement with the YMCA of Central Florida, he is active in the Dr. Phillips Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
  • Marcia Hope Goodwin is the City of Orlando's first chief service officer and the director of the Office of Community Affairs, working alongside Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council. She serves on several civic and arts boards, including United Arts of Central Florida, Downtown Arts District, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, City Year Orlando and the Orlando Ballet. Her honors include the 2023 Public Service Leadership Award from the University of Central Florida, a 2022 Orlando Magic/Florida Blue Social Justice Game Changer Award, the 2008 Drum Major Award for Civic Affairs from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the 2006 Black History Month "Local Legends" recognition from Lynx Transportation.
  • Hal Morlan III is a partner in the Orlando office of Shutts & Bowen LLP in his role, he serves as a member of the Governmental Law Practice Group and the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Task Force. He earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He also serves on the board of directors for the Christian Service Center.

The YMCA of Central Florida is grateful for the involvement of these accomplished individuals, as well as the continued service of the entire Metropolitan Board in supporting and advancing the organization's mission.
