As a nonprofit organization that is committed to connecting people with opportunities based on Christian values that strengthen spirit, mind, and body, the YMCA of Central Florida is pleased to announce that Reverend Archie Adams has been named the association's new Chaplain and Director of Christian Initiatives.

In this role, Archie will provide spiritual guidance and leadership to advance the YMCA's Christian initiatives, and provide guidance and support for YMCA team members, volunteers, family center members, and chaplains. He will also work to develop partnerships with on-site and other local churches, lead community service volunteer efforts and cultivate relationships with other faith-based organizations.

Archie brings over twenty years of experience in all aspects of Christian ministry as an Ordained Minister serving and teaching culturally diverse adult and youth ministries. He currently serves as Associate Pastor at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Winter Park.

For the past five years, Archie has served as Membership Coordinator and Chaplain at the Oviedo YMCA, as well as a member of the Oviedo YMCA's Mission Committee. His unique experience will enable Archie to bring both a spiritual perspective and front-line understanding to this position.

Archie is a graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in Banking & Finance and is currently working on his Master's in Theology at Newburgh Theological Seminary. He served honorably in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and is a proud husband of 38 years to his wife Schuylia and father to two daughters, Schuylia Cania and Kara.
