First Friday Conversations with Kevin Bolding and Julie Kleffel

First Friday Conversations

In our last episode, we heard Carolyn’s powerful story about the life-changing impact of water safety and why Safe Start Swim Lessons are one of the most important investments we can make in our children. This month, we’re exploring another powerful way people make a difference in our community: service.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Julie Kleffel, Immediate Past Board Chair of the YMCA of Central Florida, senior executive at Seacoast Bank, and a passionate advocate for strengthening communities through leadership.

— Julie Kleffel, Immediate Past YMCA Board Chair

In this episode, Julie shares how her journey with the Y began at the committee level and grew into a leadership role that has allowed her to witness firsthand the impact of our mission. From helping children learn to swim and stay safe, to supporting families, seniors, and individuals seeking connection and belonging, Julie reflects on how service has deepened her perspective as both a leader and a member of our community.

First Friday Conversations (Episode 6):
Leading with Purpose

Julie also shares why board and volunteer service can be transformational for the individuals who choose to step forward and lead. Her message is simple: if you’ve ever wondered how you can make a difference, start by asking how you can help.

The Y’s impact is made possible by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, donors, staff, and supporters who believe in building a stronger future for everyone. Together, we continue creating opportunities for people of all ages to learn, grow, and thrive.
