Early Learning & Preschool Programs

The YMCA Learning Centers in Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee provide nurturing care and early education for children ages six weeks to 12 years, including VPK and before- and after-school care for elementary students.

Additionally, the Lake Nona YMCA and Osceola County YMCA offer child development programs for preschool-age children designed to build positive identities, values, social skills and a lifelong love of learning.

Before & After-School Care for Elementary Students

For elementary students, the YMCA offers before- and after-school care at numerous schools across Central Florida. These programs provide:

  • Homework help
  • Outdoor play
  • Enrichment in art, STEM and fitness

Led by experienced school-based staff, our programs offer a safe, structured and fun environment for children to grow and connect. Several YMCA family centers also host after-school programs for nearby schools.

Middle School Before- and After-School Programs

Middle schoolers in Lake, Orange and Osceola counties can participate in YMCA before- and after-school programs at select schools. These age-appropriate experiences inspire a love for learning while helping students explore their passions through hands-on projects, teamwork and leadership opportunities.

Teen Leadership, Learning & Job Opportunities

For teens, the Y offers dynamic programs that prepare them for success in school, work and life:

  • Teen Leaders’ Club — Unite with other teens through community service projects, guest speakers and leadership development activities. This program is offered at several YMCA family centers in multiple counties.
  • Links 2 Learning — This program offered at South Orlando YMCA and Wayne Densch YMCA (in Pine Hills) is in partnership with Lockheed Martin and focuses on logic, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, providing new and exciting opportunities to local teens.
  • Teen Achievers — Teens in this Evans High School program are encouraged to dream big and achieve more through mentorship, leadership opportunities, academic support and real-world experiences that open doors to college, careers and community impact.

Looking for a fun, meaningful way to make a difference? The YMCA welcomes responsible teens to join our team in part-time roles like lifeguard and swim instructor at our family centers across Central Florida. We provide certification training, employee perks and opportunities to grow your career. If you’re age 16 or older, explore the positions where you can learn, lead and belong!

Homeschool P.E. for Central Florida Families

As alternative education grows in popularity, the YMCA offers Homeschool P.E. at multiple locations! This program promotes physical activity, teamwork and healthy habits through fitness routines, group games, team-building challenges and creative problem-solving activities. It’s a great way for homeschool students to socialize and stay active in a supportive environment.

Youth Sports Leagues for All Ages

Sports are more than just games — they help kids develop coordination, strategy, resilience and confidence. At the Y, every child has the chance to play and shine in our co-ed recreational leagues in: Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball. Plus, our Rising Stars program teaches preschoolers sports fundamentals.

The Spartans Basketball Club offers competitive teams for boys (grades 4–9) and girls (grades 3–5), led by experienced coaches who provide elite training in a supportive, values-driven environment. Most players come from our rec leagues, but January tryouts are open to all youth in Central Florida.

Aquatic sports are our jam — and if you child loves the water, we’d love to see them on one of our developmental or competitive swim teams, offered year-round at locations across Central Florida. Not a strong swimmer yet? Our Y swim lessons build confidence, safety skills and a lifelong love of the water.

We also host soccer clinics, a basketball academy and a competitive Esports league during the school year.

Holiday Camps & Parents’ Night Out

When school’s out, the Y is in! We offer Holiday Camps during school breaks, filled with arts and crafts, exciting games and opportunities to try new activities.

Parents can also enjoy an evening off during our Parents’ Night Out drop-off program, held on the second Friday of each month. Kids will have a blast making friends and memories under the supervision of our caring YMCA staff.
