Kevin Bolding and Pierce Seymour during their First Friday Conversation about Teen Leadership at the YMCA

First Friday Conversations

In our last episode, we explored the theme of Legacy with Len Williams and his daughter Amelia McLeod. This month, I had the pleasure of speaking with Pierce Seymour, a local high school student who recently passed his lifeguard certification and is now a member of our Y staff.

In this episode, Pierce shares his journey of perseverance and what the Y means to him and his peers. He describes it as more than just a place to go after school—it’s a community where teens can find their footing and learn life-changing skills.

First Friday Conversations | Episode 4 | Teen Leadership

Beyond the pool, our teens are making an impact across Central Florida—from organizing fundraisers like the Winter Park Y Car Show to participating in the Christian Values Conference, where they connect with peers from across the East Coast.

As we look toward the summer, we’re excited to continue providing opportunities for our youth to step into leadership roles, gain their first jobs, and nurture the next generation of our community.

Until next time…
