Welcome to Episode 2 of First Friday Conversations: The Social Club.
Last month, we kicked things off with Pam from Pammie’s Sammies. This month, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Barbara, a member of the Wayne Densch YMCA, whose story beautifully captures something I believe deeply about the Y.
Joining the Y is about so much more than joining a fitness center.
For Barbara, the Y became a place to stay active, yes, but more importantly, a place to belong. Through our senior wellness programs, she found what she calls her “retirement family” a community that shows up, connects, and does life together. In many ways, the Y becomes a social club, a gathering place, and a second home for so many of our seniors and members alike.
“I got a life that I didn’t even know existed.”
—Barbara
In this short conversation, Barbara shares how the Y met her exactly where she was and why community matters at every stage of life.
I hope her story reminds you that the Y is, and always will be, a place where people come together.
Thank you for being part of our Y community. I look forward to sharing more of these conversations with you in the months ahead.
Until next time…
