Kevin Bolding talking with Wayne Densch YMCA member inside the Y

First Friday Conversations

Last month, we kicked things off with Pam from Pammie’s Sammies. This month, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Barbara, a member of the Wayne Densch YMCA, whose story beautifully captures something I believe deeply about the Y.

Joining the Y is about so much more than joining a fitness center.

For Barbara, the Y became a place to stay active, yes, but more importantly, a place to belong. Through our senior wellness programs, she found what she calls her “retirement family” a community that shows up, connects, and does life together. In many ways, the Y becomes a social club, a gathering place, and a second home for so many of our seniors and members alike.

In this short conversation, Barbara shares how the Y met her exactly where she was and why community matters at every stage of life.

Short clip of Kevin Bolding, CEO of YMCA of Central Florida, talking to Barbara, one of the Wayne Densch YMCA members about the Y being a social club

I hope her story reminds you that the Y is, and always will be, a place where people come together.

Thank you for being part of our Y community. I look forward to sharing more of these conversations with you in the months ahead.

Until next time…

Kevin Bolding, President & CEO
