Recommended Group Exercise Classes at the YMCA
Aqua Fit Shallow
This low-impact class is performed in shallow water and is designed to improve joint stability, coordination, heart health, and strength. The class will incorporate cardio and strength, using water dumbbells and flotation belts.
Aqua Zumba
A blend of specific Zumba® moves and body sculpting techniques using lightweight dumbbells, you’ll work against gravity or the floor to define your leg and abdominal muscles for an intense strength-training experience.
Basic Fitness
Introduction to fitness, this class includes a proper warm-up, corrective exercises, and flexibility, and stretching—all components necessary to begin an exercise routine.
BODYBALANCE™
This yoga-inspired workout is completed with calming yet powerful music, and allows you to build strength and flexibility through the use of your own body weight.
Meditation
Meditation is a practice by which a person achieves a greater sense of awareness, wisdom, and a deeper sense of relaxation. In this class, we will explore the various techniques of meditation, such as sitting, standing, and yoga.
Gentle Yoga
Appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing Yoga practice.
Stretch
A total-body stretch class that’s great for relaxing, stretching, and lengthening tight muscles. Stretching is important for people of all ages. Benefits of stretching include increased range of motion, reduced muscle tension, enhanced muscular coordination, increased blood circulation, and higher energy levels.
Water Walking
Enjoy a new class each time you dive into the pool! Water Walking includes freestyle walking and movements to help keep your joints stable and increase stamina and core strength.
Yoga
Fundamental introduction to yoga. This class will focus on the most common yoga postures, breathing techniques, stretching, toning, and relaxation. Enjoy a few standing and balancing poses followed by floor stretches and guided relaxation.
Yogilates
Enjoy a method of exercise that integrates the core strengthening and alignment principles of Pilates with the practice of Hatha yoga.
Cycle
Take a ride indoors as an instructor guides the class on an all-terrain journey that will get your heart pumping and challenge you to give a little more. The focus is on proper cycle technique, body alignment, and cardio drills. Technology is also utilized to project metrics of your ride (RPM, speed, heart rate, etc.) onto televisions in the room and help you enhance your cycle experience and workout.
Latin Cardio
This class is a fusion of Latin music dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting fun and a great workout!
Muscle Conditioning
This strength and conditioning class includes aerobic, body-weight, and weight lifting exercises.
Pilates
A form of exercise that emphasizes the balanced development through core strength, flexibility, and awareness to support efficient, easy movement through Meditation, core, body, and flow of movements.
Sculpt & Stretch
This class combines the traditional body sculpting methods using free weights, resistance bands, and your own body. You’ll also stretch your entire body with learned breathing techniques.
Zumba
