The campaign, called ‘Let’s Move For A Better World’, will award resources to be donated to communities in need
ORLANDO, FLA. (Mar. 13, 2017) – The YMCA of Central Florida is rallying members of the community to exercise for a good cause. From March 13 to 31, the nonprofit will open up the doors of several YMCA Family Center locations to members and non-members alike for as many free workouts as they want. The catch? They’ll have to log all of their activity using Technogym’s state-of-the-art equipment. It’s all in an effort to help the YMCA take home the winning prize for the wellness company’s global fitness challenge, “
Let’s Move For a Better World.”
Hundreds of thousands of people get involved each year in the campaign at participating wellness centers across the globe. The objective is to get the most MOVEs, which Technogym’s equipment collects as a perceived measure of exertion. The top facilities in each participating country that reach their MOVEs goal are then able to donate a prize to a local school or a local nonprofit body to fight obesity.
In 2016, the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Family Center collected nearly 4 million MOVEs during the challenge, achieving more MOVEs than any other facility in the nation, and received a full collection of Technogym’s Cloud-based equipment to share with its Blanchard Park Family Center. This year, the Y must collect 10 million MOVEs at its Downtown Orlando location to win the challenge. If the YMCA of Central Florida is able to reach that goal, the Technogym prize would go towards its South Orlando YMCA Family Center on Oak Ridge Road.

This year, we’re inviting everyone from Central Florida to come on board with us and join the movement so we can donate more resources to a community in need.”
The YMCA of Central Florida needs all of Central Florida to come together and log their MOVEs. As a result, the nonprofit is inviting companies and individuals to visit its Downtown Orlando YMCA Family Center to record their exercise activities on its Technogym equipment, whether it’s hopping on the treadmill for half an hour or joining in on one of the Y’s public “Glow Cycle” classes. Local businesses can offer their employees a private, one-hour cycling class at the Orlando Y or even specially reserve a piece of cardio equipment for them to use throughout the day. Individuals can come in and enjoy their regular workout on Technogym’s equipment for free or join one of the special events listed below:
