Camp Wewa Celebrates the 25th Winter Retreat Anniversary

More than 130 teens, Camp Wewa alumni, Y volunteers, and adult leaders participated in the 25th Silver Anniversary Wewa Winter Retreat, January 16-18, 2015 at Camp Wewa in Apopka, FL.

Youth from all over Florida and as far away as Alabama traveled to Camp Wewa for a fun-filled weekend of events that included events that included team-building games, low and high ropes course, and spiritual and personal development.

The theme of this retreat was "A Celebration of Friends." The program focused on the importance of making healthy friendships and relationships and the many skills and action steps that make that happen. With this foundation, teens were empowered to be servant leaders and live healthier, happier lives.

Similar to the YMCA Christian Leadership Conference in North Carolina, discussion leaders also challenged the teens to be the “Best version of themselves they can be.” The teens explored this topic during one of four devotions, where they were asked: “who” and “what” may be holding them back from successfully reaching their goals. They also discussed what motivating factors push them in the right direction.
