Holiday Spiced Pecans

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 lb. raw unsalted pecan halves*
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or other naturally flavored oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

  1. Line baking sheet

    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. Mix seasonings

    Mix the salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and orange zest together in a small bowl and set aside.

  3. Heat pecans

    Place the pecans in a medium pan over medium heat.

  4. Toast

    Cook, stirring frequently, for 4–5 minutes until they just start to brown and smell toasted.

  5. Add oil

    Add the oil and stir until pecans are coated.

  6. Add seasoning mixture

    Add the spice mixture and stir to combine.

  7. Add liquid ingredients

    Once combined, add honey and water, stirring until the mixture thickens and coats the pecans, approximately 1–2 minutes.

  8. Transfer and separate

    Transfer the pecans to the prepared sheet pan and separate them with a fork or spatula.

  9. Let cool and enjoy/store

    Allow them to cool completely before serving. Transfer remaining portion to an airtight container for storage.
