Hello, my name is Kristopher Quinones, a professional basketball coach and trainer with an extensive background in the sport. Notably, my goal is to instill our youth with lifelong skills using basketball as their foundation to build a well-rounded individual on and off the court.
I am committed to the success and growth of our youth using my exceptional skills and achievements, that include:
• Establishing high school basketball career as a 4-year varsity athlete
• Former Lead trainer and program coordinator for Taby Basket in Stockholm, Sweden
• Assistant coach and development coach for Value Works School of Basketball in Tokyo, Japan
• Former Skills coach for Kawasaki city Super Sonics boys & Girls 14u, 12u in Kanagawa, Japan

Hello, my name is Anthony Clayton, an experienced Sports and Fitness trainer, and seasoned basketball coach. My purpose in life is to pour my passion and education of Sports and Fitness into the lives of our youth and provide opportunities to excel in life on and off the playing fields!

Competitive Sports Season Information
Our season will entail a combination of tournaments, showcases and sanctioned games
March 2 & 9, 2024 tryouts ($35 tryout fee)
March 2024– December 2024 season duration
March 11, 2024 Orientation Week
March 18, 2024 workouts/practices start
April (dates vary) Tournaments start
There will be at least 2 practices throughout the week per team leading up to a tournament weekend. On non-tournament weekends, a third practice session will be held for strength and conditioning. In this weekly schedule, the teams will also have a 30-45 min film session on one of their practice days.
Games will be played over the weekends outlined in the programs handbook but are subject to change. Tournaments are a guarantee of 3 games at varied times.

Q: What does Competitive Basketball at the YMCA mean?
A: The YMCA Competitive Basketball program provides an opportunity for players to compete at a high level while also displaying our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
Q: What age groups are offered?
A: The divisions are Boys (14u, 12u, 10u) & Girls (14u, 12u)
For teams that have chosen to organize on the basis of the athlete’s age, the AAU provides age based competition in the divisions listed below following these eligibility requirements.
Proof of photo identification for eligibility must be available for review, by an AAU designee at all AAU licensed competitions. If the documents are not available the team is subject to removal from the competition. Acceptable documents include any of the following:
- An unexpired Passport
- Valid Driver’s License
- Department of Motor Vehicles I.D. card issued within three (3) years
- Military Dependent I.D.
- The current year school ID (2023-24) w/picture and a copy of a birth certificate
- Electronic Age Verification through SportsAge ID (A one- time registration fee of only $15.00 covers 100% of all updating and processing fees for as long as an athlete participates in the AAU Boys Basketball Program) or National Sports ID (A yearly fee of $10.00 validates your eligibility for licensed AAU events).
10 & Under Division. An athlete can be no older than 10 on or before August 31, 2024
11 & Under Division An athlete can be no older than 11 on or before August 31, 2024
12 & Under Division An athlete can be no older than 12 on or before August 31, 2024
13 & Under Division An athlete can be no older than 13 on or before August 31, 2024
14 & Under Division An athlete can be no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2024

Q: How can my child be a part of Competitive Basketball at the YMCA?
A: There is a yearly tryout in Early March that must be paid for to attend.
Q: How long is the season/commitment?
A: March through December.
Q: How many practices per week?
A: There will be 2 practices during the week, 1.5 hours in length, and a 3rd practice on non-tournament weekends. There are also film study times, and a Strength & Conditioning component.
Q: What days are the tournaments and how many games?
A: All tournaments will start on Friday or Saturday, and end on Sunday. There will be at least a 3-game guarantee.
Q: What is the financial commitment for competitive basketball?
A: Dues and Fees are as follows:
- $35 Tryout Fee (Does not guarantee placement on the team)
- $22 Yearly AAU Membership Fee
- $200 Monthly Subscription Fee, drafted on the 15th of each month
- $10-$35 Tournament Fee per player, based on the tournament entry fee. (Tournament fees are due by the end of the 1st week of each month)
- We are working with our 3rd party vendor, Augusta Sportswear, to create a one of kind full uniform set tailored to the athletes with their custom numbers and names attached…
*Please note: Some tournaments charge for entry for spectating the event per day.
Q: What does the Monthly Subscription Fee entail?
A: It will maintain the player’s spot on the team and guarantee the all-around Basketball Club experience with 2-3 practices per week, Strength & Conditioning Training, Film Study, and experienced coaches with the goal of creating an environment to take the players talents to the next level.
Q: How do I cancel, if necessary?
A: First, the parent(s)/guardian must schedule a meeting with one of the coaches. After the meeting, a program cancellation form will be filled out by the coaches. Note: this must be completed 30 days before the 15th draft day, or the current month’s subscription will draft for the next month.
Q: What are the Transportation & Travel Fees?
A: Participants and their families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from practices, games, and any travel events. Parents and participants may be responsible for covering travel expenses associated with tournaments or away games, as outlined by the program. This includes entry of spectators into tournaments.
