Healthy Kids Day

April 24, 2021 @ 9:00 am 1:00 pm EDT

Healthy Kids Day is a free event open to the community that’s designed to inspire kids’ creativity, awaken their imaginations, and encourage them to stay active.

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families! Our goal is to get kids moving and learning, creating healthy habits they can continue all throughout the year, but especially during the summer. Research shows that without access to out-of-school activities in the summer months, kids can fall behind academically and may also gain weight twice as fast. Following a year filled with numerous changes and uncertainty, Healthy Kids Day is a reminder to families that we can help ensure all children have access to the key ingredients to reach their full potential, even during out-of-school time.

Virtual Activities

The Florida State Alliance of YMCAs has compiled a list of activities from other Y associations like First Coast YMCA, YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, YMCA of the Treasure Coast and more will join with the YMCA of Central Florida to host free, online events for families to participate in together! Activities include a banana pancake cooking demo from Chef Gary, painting class, a robotics demo, sing-a-longs, as well as dance and exercise classes and much more.

Please note, activities will be linked to Facebook events that will go live on Healthy Kids Day.

In-person Activities

Following a year of social distancing, virtual school, mask-wearing, and endless hours of screen time, we’re excited to bring back Healthy Kids Day® at the Y! Join us at your local YMCA for a day of family-friendly fun with games, Youth Sports academies, Aquatics activities, arts and crafts, and more.

Safety Plays First
Our in-person activities for Healthy Kids Day will be conducted in a clean and fun environment. Y team members will attempt to host as many activities outdoors to promote an even safer atmosphere. For indoor activities, we’ll follow our safety procedures currently in place that are in alignment with local and federal guidelines.
