Hello, my name is Moana Melendez Noriega, I began playing volleyball at a young age and never lost love for the game. As a coach, I am motivated to help athletes improve their skills, knowledge and grow their passion for volleyball.
Spartan Volleyball Club Season Information
Our season can include a combination of tournaments, showcases and sanctioned games.
September 13 & 14, 2025 Tryouts ($35 tryout fee)

Games will be played over the weekends (primarily) outlined in the programs handbook but are subject to change. Tournaments are a guarantee of three games at varied times.
For teams that have chosen to organize on the basis of the athlete’s age, the AAU provides age/grade based competition in the divisions listed below following these eligibility requirements.
Proof of photo identification for eligibility must be available for review, by an AAU designee at all AAU licensed competitions. If the documents are not available the team is subject to removal from the competition.
Acceptable documents include any of the following:
- An unexpired Passport
- Valid Driver’s License
- Department of Motor Vehicles I.D. card issued within three (3) years
- Military Dependent I.D.
- The current year school ID (2025–26) with picture and a copy of a birth certificate
- 11 & Under – Born on or after September 1, 2014
- 12 & Under – Born on or after September 1, 2015
- 13 & Under – Born on or after September 1, 2016
- 14 & Under – Born on or after September 1, 2017
Q: What is the Spartan Volleyball Club at the YMCA about?
A: The YMCA Spartans Volleyball Club is a competitive program providing an opportunity for players to compete at a high level while also displaying our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
Q: What age groups are offered?
A: The divisions are:
- 11U Girls

Q: What does competitive volleyball offer?
A: Competitive volleyball offers:
- Experienced coaches in volleyball as well as strength & conditioning

Q: How can my child participate in competitive volleyball at the YMCA?
A: There is a yearly tryout on September 13 and 14, 2025. To attend, your child must be registered, and there is a $35 fee.
Q: How long is the season/commitment?
A: January through December.
Q: How many practices are there per week?
A: There will be two team practices during the week, each lasting 1.5 hours, which includes 30 minutes dedicated to strength and conditioning on each practice day.
Q: What days are the tournaments, and how many games will there be?
A: Tournaments will occur over the weekends. Each team is guaranteed to play at least three games.
Q: What is the financial commitment for competitive basketball?
A: Dues and fees are as follows:
- $35 Tryout Fee (does not guarantee placement on the team)
- All players must get an AAU membership ($20) and a USAV membership ($62.50). An email will be sent to all Legacy parents with instructions on how to get both memberships.
- $200 Monthly Subscription Fee (drafted on the first day of each month)
- We are working with our vendor, Augusta Sportswear, to create a one-of-a-kind, fully customized uniform set for athletes, including their personalized numbers. Pricing will be provided upon team selection.
*Please note: All tournaments charge for entry for spectating the event per day.
Q: What does the Monthly Subscription Fee entail?
A: It will maintain the player’s spot on the team and guarantee the all-around Volleyball Club experience with two practices per week, strength and conditioning training, film study and experienced coaches, with the goal of creating an environment to take the players talents to the next level.
Q: How do I cancel, if necessary?
A: First, a parent/guardian must schedule a meeting with one of the coaches. After the meeting, a program cancellation form will be filled out by the coaches. Note: this must be completed 30 days before the 1st of the month draft day, or the current month’s subscription will draft for the next month.
Q: What are the Transportation & Travel Fees?
A: Participants and their families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from practices, games and any travel events. Parents and participants may be responsible for covering travel expenses associated with tournaments or away games, as outlined by the program. This includes entry of spectators into tournaments.
