Swim Lessons

YMCA Swim lessons emphasize water safety and development of self-esteem in a safe and nurturing environment. In our Central Florida community, it’s vital that all ages feel confident and can have fun in and around water. Choose from group swim lessons or private lessons with certified instructors from an aquatics program that’s taught kids and adults alike how to swim for generations.

Developmental Swim Team

This track gives swimmers the chance to learn stroke development and age-appropriate conditioning without a focus on competition or time commitment. Developmental swim teams are ideal for kids and teens who have just completed the YMCA swim lesson program. Swim meets and other events are offered, and participation is optional, so you can choose the experience best for you!

Drowning Prevention

With pools, lakes and beaches all around us in Central Florida, it’s no surprise that Florida leads the country in drowning deaths of children ages 1 to 4. The good news is that drowning is preventable, and the YMCA of Central Florida is committed to helping keep kids safe in and around water this summer. Learn more about how the Y is committed to saving lives through water safety.

Safe Start

Safe Start

Safe Start and Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) are the leading behavioral-based approach to swimming lessons, using techniques that are developmentally appropriate for your child.  Non walking infants will be taught to roll on to their back to float, rest and breathe while children that are walking will be taught to use a swim-float-swim sequence to reach safety.

Safety Around Water

In the state of Florida, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children under age 4. Learning to stay safe around water may begin at the Y, but it doesn’t end there. That’s why we engage and educate families with water safety tips during National Drowning Prevention Month.
