Let’s Stay Healthy Together
We’ve been hard at work to refocus our efforts, facilities, and resources to proactively meet the most critical needs of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because these challenging and uncertain times have affected the way you experience the Y, we know that you may have questions about your membership and other programs as we reopen. To help, we’ve provided the most up-to-date information and resources in our Reopening Updates, Operational Updates, and Frequently Asked Questions sections.

Announcement – May 17, 2021
In alignment with the CDC, wearing masks will now be optional inside all Y facilities for fully vaccinated individuals only. There will not be any changes to our youth and staff mask requirements or any other safety precautions at this time. We highly encourage everyone to continue wearing masks as a personal safety measure and in consideration of one another as we each do our part to stay healthy together.
The YMCA of Central Florida is beginning a phased reopening process on May 21, 2020, to ensure the health and safety of all in our care. To remain in compliance with local, state, and CDC health guidelines and recommendations, we’ll be opening limited areas in select Y family center locations in phases.
As faithful members of the Y, we want to make coming back to our family centers as simple as possible for you. To resume your membership, log in to your YMCA member account. If your membership was placed on hold, there you’ll see an option to resume your membership. It’s that easy!
As faithful members of the Y, we want to make coming back to our family centers as simple as possible for you. To resume your membership, log in to your YMCA member account.
All members must complete an updated Member Waiver prior to being allowed to access our facilities. For children under the age of 18, parents/guardians will be required to complete the waiver on their behalf. Please keep in mind, we’re only allowing kids 12 years and older to enter into our family centers.
If you have any trouble completing your updated Member Waiver, please stop by an open family center and we can help you complete your waiver(s).
Your membership ID is on your YMCA membership card. Members have also received an email with their membership ID along with a link to sign the updated Member Waiver.
Please check with your local family center for this benefit as not all Child Development Centers will be operating. Our normal policy for children using the wellness center floor is back in effect. If you have any questions, please contact your local family center.
At this time, to ensure the health and safety of our members and staff, we ask that only members visit our facilities until further notice.
At this time, to ensure the health and safety of Y members and staff across the country, nationwide access is suspended until further notice.
We are actively developing our free Virtual Wellness Center to help you continue on your wellness journey. You can enjoy online group exercise classes, ask our virtual chef a question, submit prayer requests, find ways to help support our community, and much more. Please continue to check back regularly as we add additional services and programs on this web page, along with our social media and the Y App.
Family Center Procedures
There will not be any changes to our youth and staff mask requirements or any of the other Y’s safety precautions at this time. Because we serve all in our community, including young children and immunocompromised individuals, we highly encourage everyone to continue wearing masks as a personal safety measure and to do their part out of consideration of one another as we each do our part to stay healthy together.
Wearing a mask for the duration of your workout is recommended, but not required. As noted by the CDC, masks should not be worn during high-intensity activities as they may cause difficulty breathing. Other precautions have been taken, such as staggering equipment with 6 feet of distance, for optimal prevention of the spread of respiratory illness when masks are not worn. High-intensity exercise equipment, such as treadmills and ellipticals, are placed in a layout that doesn’t promote breathing in the vicinity or direction of other members on the wellness floor (such as facing a window).
We’ll continue to require face masks for children at all times when not engaged in physical activities. This current precaution will remain in place until we can practically and safely implement any potential guideline updates in order to ensure that everyone in our care remains healthy and safe.
We ask that all members bring their own water bottle and a workout towel, as towel services will not be provided. We also encourage you to bring your own mat.
To ensure proper physical distancing limits are met, our wellness areas will have a limited capacity. If we reach full capacity, you will be asked to wait in a designated area until space is available.
Each individual person within my family will be required to check in at our front desk using their own unique membership ID and a photo ID.
For the safety and well-being of our members and staff, please refrain from using the YMCA if you are experiencing: fever, cough, shortness of breath or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with coronavirus.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work to stay healthy together.
Some family centers require reservations to ensure that space and equipment will be available for you. Reservations are encouraged through the YMCA of Central Florida app. Walk-in reservations may be available, but are contingent on capacity and provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Please notify a staff member who will address your concerns immediately.
All communication regarding operating schedules will be communicated via website, social media, and/or email as promptly as possible. These updates are based on the latest guidance from health agencies and government authorities. Please check back regularly as all schedules are subject to change.
We’re excited to announce the Y will be offering our Before and After School programs for elementary and middle school students!
We follow the Florida Department of Education and local school board protocol for our six-county service area. We’re closely monitoring the developing situation and staying in close contact with our school partners and local authorities to provide operating updates as they are available.
Please follow CDC guidelines to take care of yourself and your family.
Be sure to download the Y app, follow us on social media, sign up for email updates, and check our website frequently.
We ask that you please continue to stay with the Y and help us continue the life-changing work taking place during this time of need. You can visit our Community Support section and follow us on social media to learn more about how the Y is meeting the critical needs of our community right now.
Please also consider donating if you are able. No amount of support is too small to help us keep Central Florida strong.
In the event you have registered for any program or class that cannot be postponed or made up at a later date, for example, spring break camp, the Y will issue a prorated refund. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please contact your local YMCA family center below for clarification.
If the program or class you have signed up for has been interrupted and has sessions remaining, that program and/or class will be resumed at a later date. Operational information regarding the resumption of normal schedules will be communicated to you via email.
If the program or class you have signed up for is scheduled to begin at a future date, you will receive notification regarding operational information and when they can be expected to take place. In the event you should wish to cancel your registration, the standard policy applies in which you can do so up to the start date of that program or class.
If you have a recurring program subscription such as personal training, your subscription payment is currently on hold until your local YMCA family center resumes operations.
In the event we’re informed by an individual who has visited our facility that they tested positive for COVID-19, we have a thorough process in place to ensure all locations they may have visited receive appropriate cleaning in addition to the nightly professionally deep cleaning and disinfecting that is already in place. Furthermore, in a manner that respects the individual’s personal health privacy, we will reach out directly only to those individuals who we have identified as potentially having been truly at risk through significant exposure as defined by the CDC.
